In folklore, the Green Woodpecker is famously known as the “Yaffle.” This name comes from its loud, ringing call that sounds remarkably like a manic laugh. Because it often calls just before the weather turns, old country folk also called it the “Rain Bird.” A perfect gift for bird watchers!
